First Baptist was designed initially to have a seating capacity of 1,800 with a balcony used for additional classroom space. The balcony
was completed in 1992 for a total seating of 2,540. The initial educational wing was 3 stories high with choir rehearsal, Baptistry dressing areas and a small office area on part of the second level. The
building was Master Planned for two 3 story educational wings of approximately 21,000 S.F. each. Jim Thomson was the Project Architect on the initial building phase and Architect of Record on the balcony
addition and remodel. The First Baptist addition was designed to blend in with the original sanctuary and educational building. The additions include choir and orchestra rehearsal areas, a family life
center for 800 people and approximately 50,000 S.F. of three story educational space. |
